Health Festival - 3rd Panhellenic Congress of Medical Students for Public Health

HelMSIC is an independent, voluntary, non-profitable and non-partisan medical student organisation. It was founded in 1958 by medical students, and today consists of 7 local committees, one in each city where there is a medical school.

What is the Health Festival?

The "Health Festival - 3rd National Conference of Medical Students on Public Health" is a national conference organised by HelMSIC, aimed at medical students and concerning Public Health. More specifically, this year's focus is Mental Health.

In this context, the 3rd Health Festival will include:

  • Roundtables by leading scientists in the field of mental health
  • Workshops 
  • Trainings by HelMSIC's peer trainers
  • Fair from counselling organisations involved in supporting people with mental disorders
  • Various interactive methods - debate, open space discussion, etc.
  • Active involvement of medical students in the conference with their presence in the roundtables, posters and oral announcements

How can you participate?

This year, for the very first time, the Health Festival conference will include opportunities for medical students to actively participate in the conference as round-table presenters or by presenting their research posters. Students from all years and all medical schools (both greek-speaking and english-speaking) are able to participate.

There will be 6 roundtables on mental disorders. Each round table will consist of 5 students and a responsible scientific supervisor - student moderator. Each student will be asked to create a presentation on a specific topic assigned to them and present it in 20 minutes.

Participants will also have the opportunity to structure a research paper on Mental Health. In this context, the papers of medical students may be presented either in the form of posters or in the form of short announcements during the conference in an auditorium with an audience from all medical schools in Greece.

When will it take place?

The conference will take place at the Centre for the Dissemination of Research Results (KEDEA) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on 8-10 December 2023. The official language of the conference is Greek with some parts of the conference to be held in English.
