Dermatology (MD1037) ECTS
Upon successfully completing the course, students will know the normal skin and sex skin diseases, benign and malignant tumors of the skin. Teaching focuses in reasoning, epidemiology, clinical, prognosis- development and elements therapeutic. Teaching includes theoretical instruction and compulsory exercise in outpatients department of Dermatology Clinic. The theoretical course presents and analyzes many pictures of skin diseases. During the course in outpatient Dermatology Clinic students are able to see, ask and discuss patients incidents.

Introduction to Ophthalmology, elements functional anatomy and histology, physiological mechanisms institution orasis. Required diagnostic and therapeutic skills in frequent ophthalmic diseases like ocular surface diseases, cataract, strabismus, uveitis, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment and optic nerve diseases. Clinical Practice: (30 practical skills) in subjective testing methods and research methodology in ophthalmology history and ophthalmoscopy in ophthalmic nursing on testing methods, in daily ophthalmological practice in ophthalmology, methods and approaches in differential diagnosis.

Learning the basic everyday ENT – Head & Neck diseases. 2. Linking the ENT knowledge with other medical specialties, such as Neurology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine, Dermatology and Pediatrics. 3. The ability for the student, prospective graduate of medicine, to perform a thorough basic ENT examination. 4. The transmission of practical actions and skills acquisition to the students for the management of everyday ENT diseases and emergency cases. 5. The sensitization of students to medical issues, such as head & neck cancer, childhood deafness, and others which have essential social implications, in order to achieve the early diagnosis and the right direction of the patients. 6. The transmission and acquisition of encyclopedic knowledge in the whole field of ENT and contemporary methods for treating ENT diseases.

Physiology and abnormal function of organs and systems are discussed. The mechanisms underlying common diseases and the procedures inside the human body leading to pathologic conditions are described. The following chapters are individually presented and discussed. Defense mechanisms, Immunity. HLA system, connective tissue and joint diseases. Hemopoiesis, hemostasis. Breathing disorders and lung diseases. Kidneys: glomerular, tubular disorders. Fluid and electrolyte disorders. Disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, bowel, pancreas, liver and biliary tract. Heart: EKG, coronary heart disease, abnormalities of the cardiac valves, heart failure. Arterial hypertension. Endocrine system: Thyroid abnormalities, adrenal glands, bone diseases. Metabolic disorders, obesity, diabetes mellitus.

The objectives of the course are the preliminary contact of the student with the wide range of applied laboratory medicine, as practiced in our country within the limits of the medical specialty of Medical Biopathology. The aim is to familiarize and understand the potential of laboratory approach to diagnosis and monitoring, at least of the main clinical situations, as well as the important contribution of the medical laboratory to the identification and documentation of the disease and the therapeutic intervention. Familiarity with the basic indications, advantages and disadvantages of the diagnostic and interventional imaging techniques in reference to system/organ pathologies. Understanding of the principles of images interpretation. Knowledge of the typical imaging findings from the various imaging modalities (radiography, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine techniques) of the most common diseases (on a system/organ basis). Apprehension of the role of imaging diagnostic algorithms in the era of precision medicine.
