MODERN CURRICULUM

A 6-year program to educate medical students and provide health professionals with the highest scientific standards.

MODERN CURRICULUM

THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME IN ENGLISH IS A 6 YEAR FULL PROGRAMME FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS.

The main goal of the School is to educate medical students as well as to provide health professionals with the highest scientific standards. An additional aim is to perform high-quality research frequently in collaboration with other Greek and international research centres. A student of this programme participates in various research programmes of the Laboratories and Medical Departments. It is of high importance for us the dissemination of all ethical values to students governing the medical practice as well as to ensure that young medical doctors will acquire all scientific knowledge which will enable them to diagnose and effectively manage health problems.

IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THE MEDICAL DEGREE STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE 83 MODULES (76 COURSES AND 7 COURSES – CLINICAL TRAINEESHIPS)

Clinical skills are shaped from the first semester and clinical rotations start from the 4th year. During the final year, students will be having a full-time supervised clinical training at the affiliated Hospitals. The duration of the undergraduate programme is 12 semesters and students have to accumulate 360 ECTS equally alocated. Upon successful completion, the students receive the Medical Degree (Ptychion Iatrikes), which is in accordance with the EU Directive 2005/36/E and gives them access to postgraduate studies (Masters), Doctorate in Medical Science (Doctorate Diplomas) and a licence to practice the medical profession in the Public and Private Sector within European Union.

The philosophy of the programme

The philosophy of the programme puts the human resources upfront and liberates people’s creativity by transforming the School into a structure where students and teachers’ intelligence and talent are expressed, leading our students to specific goals and supporting them to reach unimaginable summits which they might not even have imagined they could reach. In this programme, the educational conditions stimulate the curiosity and creativity of students, while the professors are guiding,  provoking, and trying to awaken their consciousness. Each student is linked with an academic advisor from the very first day,  guiding them throughout their studies.
